Snohomish Community Mobilization Against Substance Abuse and Violence
The Community Mobilization program aims to prevent substance abuse and violence through collaborative efforts with educators, law enforcement, government officials, treatment providers and community groups. Previous prevention efforts include life-skills training, prescription drug abuse awareness programs and gang-prevention programs.
Take Back Your Meds
In an effort to reduce illicit prescription drug availability in Snohomish County, the Take Back Your Meds program allows residents to dispose of their unwanted or unused medications at a safe and secure location. Drop-off locations for medications include pharmacies, law enforcement offices and other government buildings throughout Snohomish County.
Snohomish County Alcohol and Other Drugs Recovery Support Program
For those in recovery, the Alcohol and Other Drugs Recovery Support Program provides support for basic needs and temporary housing during treatment. Resources are used to support low-income individuals in treatment with one of the county’s contracted treatment agencies.
Snohomish County Alcohol and Other Drugs unit
The Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) unit includes substance abuse treatment, recovery support services, prevention activities and the DUI Victim Impact Panel Program. The goal of the unit is to reduce the harmful consequences addiction has on community members. Through their actions, the AOD unit strives to reduce crime, health care costs, injuries, accidents and fatalities.
Marysville Together Coalition
The Marysville Together Coalition hosts substance abuse prevention activities and promotes drug awareness messages in Marysville. The organization partners with state and community organizations to reduce drug abuse and promote healthy activities. Examples of previous efforts include an alcohol- and drug-free poster contest, parenting classes and information fairs.
Darrington Prevention Intervention Community Coalition
The Darrington Prevention Intervention Community Coalition works to prevent underage drug use in the northern part of Snohomish County. The group organizes community engagement initiatives to promote family skills, increase community awareness and reduce risk factors for early alcohol and drug use.
